A practical look at what the Gentle Tarot Pocket Deck Gift Set includes, who it suits, and when a different deck or format is the smarter buy.
Quick answer
The Pocket Deck Gift Set is the right buy when you want one complete, ready-to-use Gentle Tarot package for yourself or as a gift: the Pocket Edition deck, a Pocket Gentle Tarot booklet, a journal, and a 720-piece sticker set. Choose it if the recipient is new to tarot, travels with cards, or wants everything in one box. Skip it if you already own a Gentle Tarot deck or specifically want the Seed Edition artwork.
What the gift set actually solves
Most tarot gifts fail for one of two reasons: the deck arrives without a guide the recipient understands, or the extra pieces (journal, stickers, reference spreads) get bought separately and cost more than expected. This set bundles the reading tool, the learning support, and the journaling extras in one purchase. The catalog facts show the set is priced below the comparison price, and it includes the Pocket Edition deck plus a booklet, a journal of your choice, and a 720-piece journaling sticker set. That combination is what makes it a genuine starter kit rather than just a deck in a box.
The trade-off is that the set centers on the Pocket Edition, not the full-size or Seed Edition artwork. If the person you are buying for already has a Gentle Tarot deck, the duplicate deck is the weak point of the bundle.
How to choose between the set and a pre-order deck
The gift set ships as a complete package and includes the journal and stickers, so it works as a single gift without add-ons. The Seed Edition pre-orders are deck-only purchases with a later shipping window (mid-October to early November for the Black Core version, and October or November for the Traditional Make & Finish version). If your deadline is soon, or you want the extras included, the gift set is the safer choice. If the recipient already owns a Gentle Tarot deck and cares about the reworked Seed Edition art, a pre-order is the better fit.
One practical note: the Seed Edition pre-order pages state that if you want other items to ship now, you should place a separate order. That means a pre-order deck and an in-stock gift set will not arrive together, which matters if you are coordinating a single gift moment.
Sizing the extras: journal, stickers, and spreads
The set includes a journal of your choice and a 720-piece journaling sticker set, which is more sticker volume than most casual journalers will use quickly. That is a plus for someone who already keeps a tarot or reflection journal, and a neutral extra for someone who does not. If you want a small, low-cost addition that supports practice without adding a second deck, the Card Spread Expansion Pack is a pocket-sized tuck box with 12 spreads that can accompany any deck, not just Gentle Tarot. It is a sensible add-on when the recipient already has a deck but wants more structure for readings.
Decision rules for buying this set
- Buy the gift set if the recipient has no Gentle Tarot deck: The set includes the Pocket Edition deck, a booklet, a journal, and stickers, so there is no missing piece to buy afterward. One purchase, ready to gift.
- Buy a Seed Edition pre-order instead if artwork is the priority: The Seed Edition is the reworked version the artist always dreamed of, offered in Black Core and Traditional Make & Finish. It is deck-only and ships later. Choose this only when the recipient already has a deck or wants the new art and can wait.
- Add the Card Spread Expansion Pack only when a deck already exists: The 12 spreads work with any deck and fit journaling practice, but they do not replace a deck in a beginner gift. Use it as a small companion gift, not the main one.
- Check the shipping window before promising a date: The gift set is a complete in-stock bundle. The Seed Edition pre-orders ship between mid-October and early November (Black Core) or October to November (Traditional Make & Finish), and separate orders are required if you want other items sooner. If the gift date is fixed, the gift set is the safer pick.
Product facts to weigh
- POCKET DECK GIFT SET!: Save $24 and snag the complete Gentle Tarot gift set with the Pocket Edition. This set includes everything you need to embark on your Gentle Tarot journey for less than the price of a single indie deck. This limited run Bundle Deal includes: Gentle Tarot Pocket Edition deck, NEW A Pocket Gentle Tarot Booklet, Gentle Tarot journal of your choice, 720-piece journaling sticker set. This is the one purchase that covers deck, guidance, and journaling extras together, which is why it works as a standalone beginner gift.
- Pre-Order: The Gentle Tarot Seed Edition Kickstarter Black Core - Wholesale: This is a pre-order for the Gentle Tarot Seed Edition, Kickstarter Black Core version. Orders will ship between mid October and early November. If you are ordering other products that you would like to ship now, please place a separate order. The Seed Edition is the Gentle Tarot the artist always dreamed of. Art that itched for change has been reworked, offering new energy to the deck as a whole. Choose this only if the recipient wants the reworked Seed Edition art and can wait for the shipping window; it is a deck-only pre-order, not a gift bundle.
- Pre-Order: The Gentle Tarot Seed Edition Traditional Make & Finish: This is a pre-order. Orders will start shipping in October or November. We will update this page once we have more precise shipping information. If you would like to receive other items before this pre-order ships, please purchase them separately. The Seed Edition comes in two distinct finishes. This is the Traditional Make & Finish. Printed on 350gsm art paper with an anti-scratch matte lamination. The Traditional Make & Finish is the matte, anti-scratch option within the Seed Edition pre-order, and its shipping window is less precise than the Black Core version, so it is a weaker choice for a dated gift.
- Card Spread Expansion Pack Wholesale: This card spread expansion pack contains 12 card spreads in a pocket-sized tuck box. These spreads were written with My Friend Fire at heart but can be used to accompany any practice or deck. Great for journaling and extra insight or support. The envelope-style box comes with beautiful spot UV accents and the cards have matte gold gilding that matches My Friend Fire Luxe Linen. This is the low-cost add-on when the recipient already has a deck but wants ready-made spreads; it works with any deck, so it does not create a duplicate.
